EICR & Electrical Inspections

Whether you’re a homeowner, landlord, or you manage commercial premises, keeping on top of electrical inspections and surveys is essential. At Nova Electrical, we can perform an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) for your home or business to give you a clear idea about the state of your electrics.

We offer a comprehensive range of electrical testing and inspection services to ensure your system complies with the most up to date safety and quality standards.

Why Book an Electrical Inspection Survey?

While most people are happy with their electrics if they’re working as they should, all installations will experience deterioration over time. This means hazards can develop which could become dangerous if left unaddressed. Regular electrical inspections ensure your systems remain compliant with British Safety standards, ensuring your fittings aren’t putting others at risk.

EICRs for Domestic & Commercial Properties

An EICR is also known as a periodic inspection, and our qualified electricians complete these tests at both domestic and commercial properties. We conduct EICRs in any type of building, including retail outlets, restaurants, bars, salons, gyms, office blocks, apartments and private homes. The electrical condition report will detail the safety of your electrics.

We inspect every part of the system to assess for damage, deterioration and defects, highlighting where components no longer meet safety standards. We’ll always check your fuse board, as this may require an upgrade to a consumer unit. These modern units include an RCD (residual current device), which will cut your power if there’s a fault, helping to prevent electrical shocks and burns.

When to Book an EICR

When you book your EICR, it must be carried out by someone qualified and competent to do so. Businesses must have an up to date EICR at least every 5 years, and new regulations have come into force that require landlords to do the same. A new EICR is advised after a change in tenancy, and you must provide residents with a copy within 28 days of the inspection. Homeowners may wish to book an EICR if they’re purchasing a new home to ensure the electrics are up to scratch, or if they’re selling their property to achieve a smooth house sale.
